Merry Christmas Y’all

First of all… Merry Christmas to everyone around the world!

I hope you’ve all enjoyed spending some time with your beloved ones, since that is what this holiday is all about! The food, drinks and the presents are just inessentials. For me, it’s probably the first time without being at home for Christmas…but I’m slowly creating my own Pano family here in Canada! And I’m pretty sure that my step dad doesn’t mind me being here, since I always force him to listen to the same Christmas Songs over and over again :-)

I do like to take the time to thank my Mum, my sister and my friend Evelyn for sending me a Christmas Care Package! And I know I’m on a diet, but right now I’m just indulging myself in chocolates and candy. As of tomorrow, I’ll drag everything back to work to share it with all my lovely colleagues from Rk Heliski and Choppers Landing! My White Christmas has been great!

Feels like Christmas!
As of Friday December 20th, our little Bell 204 helicopter is back in business! And I have to admit that I’m still super excited just hearing the “noise” it makes when it’s taking off or when it’s coming back home. I even don’t think that I’ll ever get used to it during this season! For all of you who never got the chance to go close to a helicopter, this is what it looks and sounds like:

Our Rk Heliski Guides Team for this season!
We all got trained about helicopter safety, rescue plans, beacons, avalanches, probes, shovels, guest packs, … and for the Front Desk Staff there was some extra training about our reservations system Appsuite. Everything was super interesting, but it was just a lot of information – especially if your native language is not English and you have to take the time to think about the words they say. But it’s fun to be part of the big RK Heliski Family!

As for me, I’m still living my dream. Because I’m only working the afternoon/evening shift, I have the opportunity to go skiing every morning if I want to. And if the conditions are good enough. I am a little bit spoiled when it comes to skiing, since I’ve been skiing since I was 2,5 years old. So I pretty much know how an awesome day on the hill looks like. :-) Please Santa, send us some more snow!

I’m working 5 days a week, going skiing maybe 5 days a week and going to the gym a couple times a week… So yes, my life over here is pretty busy! But when I’m home (Oh yes – I call my own Horsetief Studio Apartment home :-) ) I can enjoy the time by myself. Just watching some DVD’s from The OC, chilling on the sofa in my sweatpants and sleeping in.

Life is beautiful, that’s for sure!

Oh yeah - for those who wonder, our little Film Festival was a huge success! We were a little scared, since we only sold about 50 tickets during our pre-sale period. But we ended up being sold out, with more than a 100 people coming over to enjoy the newest Warren Miller Movie together with us! We all enjoyed the night and are very grateful to everyone who made it a success together with us!
